Online notarization for Ontario signers
- Rule shown before checkout
- Document caveats surfaced
- Recipient acceptance still matters
Ontario is home to about 185,285 people in San Bernardino County. California notaries can't perform full online notarization yet, so Ontario signers generally use an online notary commissioned in another state — that is exactly what we arrange, with the caveats on this page.
If your document needs county recording, Ontario filings generally go to the San Bernardino County recording office — we confirm the exact operational requirements with the receiving office before anything is sent, and acceptance is always the office's decision.

Notarizing online from Ontario
Is online notarization legal in Ontario?
California enacted RON in 2023 (SB 696), but it is not yet in effect — the Secretary of State's system is still being implemented, with a statutory outside date of January 1, 2030. California notaries cannot perform RON yet — but California law recognizes notarizations performed lawfully by online notaries commissioned in other states, and that is exactly what we arrange.
How does it work for Ontario signers?
You'll meet an online notary commissioned in a state where remote notarization is fully live. The session is recorded, your ID is verified, and you get the sealed result the same day.
Will my recipient take a document notarized this way?
Out-of-state notarizations are commonly recognized, but the receiving party always decides what it accepts — we can't guarantee acceptance, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing. Tell us where the document is going and we'll flag anything that needs checking first.
This page summarizes California notarization rules for Ontario signers for convenience and is not legal advice. Laws change — statute citations reflect our most recent review. Notarial acts are performed by independent commissioned notaries under the laws of their commissioning state.
