SignSealShip vs BlueNotary

BlueNotary prices the seal. We price the whole job, delivered.

BlueNotary is a capable, certified notarization platform with a real notary marketplace. Their pricing spans four tabs — seals, e-sign seats, business plans, add-ons. Ours is one receipt, and it includes the part everyone else leaves out: getting the original where it needs to go.

THE RECEIPT ARGUMENT

One affidavit, notarized online and mailed to the courthouse

BlueNotary's seal costs less than ours — that's real, and it's on the card below. The question is what the finished, delivered document costs, and who does the finishing.

THE OTHER SIDE

When to choose SignSealShip

  • The original must physically arrive somewhere — we're the rail with prepaid self-ship labels and automated print-and-mail, tracked on the order.
  • You want e-sign included in the same order instead of a second product at $15/user/mo.
  • You want one published price list and one itemized receipt — notary fee at cost, postage at the carrier rate, our fee on its own line — not four pricing tabs.
  • You're an occasional sender: no seats, no monthly minimums, no account required for your signers.
  • You want the honest per-state answer on remote notarization before you pay.

SignSealShip vs BlueNotary, answered

Is SignSealShip cheaper than BlueNotary?

For a bare seal, no — BlueNotary's $25 per notarization (as published, July 2026) is less than our $49, and their add-ons ($8 per extra stamp, $5 per extra signer, $10 per witness) are cheaper line for line. The totals change when the job is bigger than the seal: our $49 includes the e-sign workflow (theirs is a separate $15/user/mo product), and our $66.60 sample covers the original printed, mailed USPS Priority, and tracked — something BlueNotary doesn't offer at any price.

BlueNotary is SOC 2 and MISMO certified — is SignSealShip?

Not yet, and we won't pretend otherwise. SOC 2 Type II is on our roadmap. What we run today: Google Cloud infrastructure (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Cloud KMS), documents encrypted in transit and at rest, PDFs sealed with Cloud KMS asymmetric keys with ByteRange tamper evidence, SHA-256 hash-linked audit trails, short-lived signed URLs, and a 7-year retention bucket for sealed documents. If a certification on the wall is a hard requirement today, BlueNotary has it — that's an honest point in their favor.

Can BlueNotary mail my notarized original?

No — as of July 2026, BlueNotary has no shipping rail. When the recorder, court, or title company needs paper, printing and mailing is on you. SignSealShip finishes with a prepaid self-ship label or automated print-and-mail, with live tracking tied to the order.

Do I need a subscription with either platform?

With SignSealShip, never — pay-per-document is the default forever. BlueNotary offers pay-as-you-go notarization too, but standalone e-signing is eSign Pro at $15/user/mo, and business notary seats run $37–$47 per notary per month, spread across a four-tab pricing page (as published, July 2026). Our price list is one page, and every checkout shows every line before you pay.

When is BlueNotary the better choice?

Three honest cases: you need SOC 2 or MISMO certification on paper today (mortgage lenders often do); you're a commissioned notary looking for a platform and marketplace to run sessions on; or you want the lowest à-la-carte seal and add-on prices and you'll handle everything around the notarization yourself.

One price list. One receipt. The whole job.
