GUIDE · FOR NOTARIES
Application to payout, step by step.
SignSealShip automates the dispatch, the scheduling handoff, the session-link routing, and the payout. The notarial act — and the RON platform it runs on — stays entirely yours.
- 1
Apply
Five minutes on the application form: your commission state and expiry, RON authorization, E&O coverage, years of experience, and the document classes you specialize in. You also accept the Independent Contractor, Non-Solicitation & Non-Circumvention Agreement — read it first; it's short and it is not an employment relationship.
- 2
Automated screening
Every application is screened automatically the moment it arrives — commission validity, RON authorization, and overall coherence. Most applications are decided right away; some get a human review first. Either way you'll hear from us by email, and we never share screening details.
- 3
Welcome & setup
Approved notaries receive the welcome email with first steps: keep your commission and E&O current, confirm your RON platform registration is on file with your state, and reply with your typical availability. Before your first job we'll also invite you to set up your payout account with Stripe.
- 4
A matched job offer arrives
Jobs route to you only when BOTH your commission state and one of your chosen specializations match the act — never anything you aren't certified for. Accept or decline from the email; declining never penalizes you.
- 5
Create the session on YOUR platform
You run the session on the state-approved RON platform you're already registered with — BlueNotary is one example; any platform your state approves works. Create the session there exactly as you normally would. We never access, log into, or automate your platform — it stays entirely yours.
- 6
Paste your session link — we route it
Give us the session link from your platform and our system routes it to the signer along with the prepared documents and instructions. We automate the dispatch, the scheduling handoff, the link routing, and the payout — the notarial act itself is all yours.
- 7
Perform the act & upload evidence
Complete identity verification and the notarial act on your platform under your state's rules, then upload the completion evidence: the sealed document and your session record. Your own notary journal stays yours, kept per your state's law.
- 8
QA, then automatic payout
We review the evidence for completeness. Once the session passes QA, your payout for the platform session is sent automatically via Stripe — no invoicing. Notarial-act fees are set and capped by your state; platform payouts relate to completed platform sessions.
Notary network FAQ
Do I need to use a specific RON platform?
No. You perform sessions on whichever RON platform your state has approved and you're registered with — BlueNotary is one example. Per job you create the session on your platform and give us the session link; we route it to the signer. We never access or automate your platform.
What does the automated screening check?
That your commission is active with time remaining on it, that you hold RON authorization from your commissioning state, and that the application as a whole is coherent. Some applications get a human review before a decision; you'll hear by email either way.
How do payouts work?
Via Stripe, automatically, once a session is completed and passes QA. You'll set up your payout account before your first job — we hold no card or bank details ourselves. Notarial-act fees are set and capped by your state; platform payouts relate to completed platform sessions, not a split of statutory fees.
What does it cost to join?
Nothing. There is no application fee and no monthly fee. You choose which jobs to accept.
What kinds of documents will I see?
Only jobs inside the document classes you picked as specializations — real estate and closing packages, estate documents and POAs, DMV and title forms, mail forms, lien waivers, general affidavits, business documents, and family consents. You can ask us to update your specializations any time.
What is the Independent Contractor Agreement?
It confirms you work as an independent contractor (not an employee), that you use your own state-approved RON platform, that for 12 months you won't take direct engagements from clients introduced through the platform (you route those back to us), and how evidence and payouts work. Read the full text before applying — it's linked from the application form.
Can I set my own availability, or decline jobs?
Yes to both. Reply to the welcome email with your typical weekly availability, and accept or decline any individual offer. Declining never penalizes your standing.
