Four reasons to send a human
Mobile costs more than online notarization. These are the situations where it earns the difference.
The signer won't do it online
The most common reason a firm calls us. An older client who doesn't trust a webcam identity check, or who simply wants a person in the room. The law permits remote notarization for them; they decline it. That is a real answer, and it deserves a real service rather than an argument.
The destination demands a wet-ink original
Some county recorders will not accept a printed copy of an electronically notarized document. We treat that as a hard rule and never substitute a print where an original is required — so deeds, deeds of trust, and lien releases bound for those offices are signed in ink, in person.
The document is going abroad
An apostille authenticates a physical notarized original. When a document is bound for a foreign jurisdiction, paper is the deliverable by definition, not a preference.
Witnesses have to be in the room
Estate documents where the receiving party will not accept remote witnesses. Everyone signs in one place, at one time, in front of the same notary.

Tell us where and when
Upload the completed document, choose in-person notarization, and give us the address where the notary should meet you plus the window you're free. That address is separate from where the finished document goes — meeting at a hospital and mailing to a title company is a normal request.

We confirm the appointment
We source a commissioned notary for your area and confirm the exact time with you before anyone is dispatched. The window you give us is your availability, not a booked slot, and we never tell you a notary is on the way until one is.

The notary comes to you
They verify identity in person, witness the signature, and complete the notarial certificate in ink — under the laws of the state where they are commissioned.

The original goes where it needs to
Tracked delivery to you, to the recording office, or on to apostille. The evidence record stays on your order page either way.

Straight answers
Is mobile notarization more legitimate than online notarization?
No. Remote online notarization performed by a commissioned notary is a valid notarial act, and our online rail produces a tamper-evident sealed document with a public verification record. Mobile exists because some signers prefer a person, and some destinations require an original on paper — not because online is lesser.
I'm in a state that doesn't allow its notaries to perform RON. Do I need a mobile notary?
Usually not. A notary commissioned in another state can generally perform the notarization remotely even when your own state does not commission RON notaries. Mobile is worth the extra cost when you want a person present or the destination requires wet ink — see state availability for the details that apply to you.
How is it priced?
Two separate lines. The notarial fee is passed through at cost. Travel and scheduling is our fee for sourcing, confirming, and dispatching a notary, and it appears on its own line. They are never blended: most states cap what a notary may charge per notarial act, and a travel charge is a separate fee agreed in advance that is not set by the state.
How fast can someone come out?
It depends on your area and the time of day, and we confirm the real appointment with you before charging ahead. If speed is the priority and paper isn't required, online notarization is usually available within minutes.
Can the notary tell me what to sign or explain the document?
No. SignSealShip is a technology platform, not a law firm, and a notary cannot give legal advice or choose a document for you. The notary verifies identity and witnesses the signature; the contents of the document remain yours.
